We are pleased to announce that the Church of the Advent has partnered with Big Brothers Big Sisters to provide you with fun, rewarding ways to continue to make a difference in your life and in the life of one great kid. When you were a child, what adult outside your family brought a little more fun into your life, encouraged you, cheered you on or made you laugh? That person was a mentor. You too can make a similar impact in one child’s life — simply by being a consistent friend. As a Big Brother or Sister, you’ll meet up with your ‘Little’ two to four times a month. You spend time together in ways you’ll both enjoy, like sports, playing board games, listening to music, watching movies, exploring the city or just hanging out. Matches are based on the common ground and compatibility of Bigs and Littles. Match Support provides you with advice, context, opportunities and ideas for the duration!  Not only is it fun, it really works! Research found that a kid matched for at least a year is more respectful of adults, and more apt to avoid drugs, alcohol and violence!

Big Brothers Big Sisters representatives will have an information table at the Coffee Hours, March 14th, from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm.
