Time & Talent

In addition to your monetary pledge, this year’s Stewardship Campaign also provides the opportunity for all parishioners to further enhance their commitment of worship at the Advent by contributing/giving of their "Time & Talent." The Vestry recognizes that each parishioner contributes monetarily as much as one is able/willing to give; additionally, this year’s campaign affords the opportunity for each of us to further commit our “Time & Talent” to any of the list of activities. Simply check the box(es) by the activities that you are willing to support with your "Time & Talent." These commitments will be an expression to everyone (including our new Rector) of the activities we, the parishioners, value as part of our worship at the Advent.

An Excerpt from Father James’ Sermon for Stewardship Sunday, 2018

Knowing the true meaning of stewardship as a necessary part of our Christian lives will help us see it as more than giving away some of our money. Again, the spiritual principle is that everything comes from God. We do not have anything of our own, it all belongs to God.

Father James' full sermon on stewardship is posted here.

The Baptismal Font

Our Baptismal Font was commissioned in 1850 (six years after the founding of the parish) by Elizabeth Perkins (whose family also established the Perkins School for the Blind in Watertown). It is the oldest possession of the parish, designed by Frank Wills, and originally installed in the building on Green Street (now the Longfellow Place condo towers). It has followed us from Green Street to Bowdoin Street to Brimmer Street!  It has been recently been restored through the gift of another generous parishioner.
