The flowers at the High Altar are given to the Glory of God and in loving memory of Albert Charles Pierce.

If you are visiting or new  to the Advent, we hope that you will feel welcome and at home.  Please fill out a visitor’s/newcomer’s card so that we will have a record of your visit here and can keep in touch.

All persons baptized in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit are invited to the Altar to receive the Body and Blood of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. If you wish to receive a blessing, come to the Altar and cross your arms over your chest.

9:00 am—Infant nursery is located on the first floor in the room beyond the Parish Office.  The Toddler nursery is located downstairs in Moseley Hall.

If you wish to receive the Body of Christ upon your tongue, please open your mouth and extend your tongue slightly, so that the person administering the Sacrament may place the wafer on your tongue.

If you wish to receive the Blood of Christ by Intinction, leave the wafer in your outstretched hands.  The person administering the chalice will take it, dip it in the consecrated wine and place it on your tongue.  Do not attempt to dip the wafer into the chalice yourself.  This practice risks unsanitary accidents and is irreverent and unseemly.

If you do not wish to receive the Sacrament, cross your hands over your chest, and you will receive a blessing.

The Wednesday morning Bible study group is currently reading the Epistles to the Philippians and Colossians. That’s at 10 a.m. in the Library.

Community Groups at the Advent are the best way for new and long-standing parishioners to meet and come to know true Christian fellowship.  We have four community groups centered in four areas in and around the Boston area:  Beacon Hill, Brookline, the North Shore, and Cambridge.  These groups are designed so members and potential members can simply get to know one another better and enjoy time for friendship, education, recreation, or meet for prayer.  The groups decide for themselves how they want to spend their time together.

We are gathering the members of all four groups next Sunday, August 26, for a light dinner and to “kick off” the fall season.  Everyone who is currently in one of the community groups and everyone who would like to be in a community group should come to that gathering at 5:00 pm.  We will hear what the community groups are doing and what they would like to do over the next.

Discount Vouchers for the Boston Common Garage are available for $9.00 each from Deacon Daphne or Nola Sheffer.  You can find them between the 9:00 and 11:15 Masses at the Coffee Hour or Entr’acte.  The vouchers can be used after 4:00 pm weekdays, and all day Saturday and Sunday.  Questions?  email:
