Today’s Preacher. The preacher this morning is the Rev’d Edward Thornley. He and his wife Devon are in the States for several weeks visiting relatives and friends, and we are pleased that they consider the Advent a part of that group.
Fr Thornley is a Curate at St Marylebone Church in London and Chaplain to the Royal Academy of Music. Devon is working on a doctorate at King’s College. We are delighted to have them with us this morning.
Musical Notes: This morning we welcome Katelyn Emerson, our new Associate Organist and Choirmaster! Katelyn begins her duties officially on September 1, but is with us for the next few Sundays as a “Prelude” as she becomes acclimated to her new duties and surroundings. Katelyn is a graduate of Oberlin, where she double majored in Music and French. She is the recent first prize winner in the American Guild of Organists National Competition. She is also familiar to many of us as our Oberlin Sacred Music Intern.
Ross Wood’s final Sunday will be August 28. As a “Postlude” we will have a gala celebration and farewell on Thursday, September 29, Michaelmas, following the 6:30 pm Solemn Mass. We will also celebrate Associate Organist Pro Tem Jonathan Ortloff at this time. Mark your calendars as we honor Ross’s 15 years of remarkable service to the parish!
