Boston Print for Sale to Support the Advent in Mission—Our friends at Old Try (www.theoldtry.com) have created a limited edition vintage letterpress print now on sale in our bookstall to support the Advent in Mission.  The beautiful print reads “In Boston as it is in Heaven” (a prayer we pray implicitly every time we say the Our Father), and depicts the skyline as it appears in our city seal.  The limited edition prints are $39 and supplies are limited—so buy one (or three!) soon as a prayer for our city and to raise funds for missions at the Advent.

The next Family Group . . . will be on Friday, April 1 and it’s at 6:00 pm this month.  It will be a Family Game Night because of the auspicious date.

Chapel Hill Press has announced the publication of Called:  Memoirs of a Black Priest. the autobiography of the Rev’d Richard Cornish Martin, interim Rector of the Advent from 1996 to 1999.  Father Martin was ordained to the priesthood in 1962 and began his ministry as Episcopal Chaplain at Pennsylvania State University.  Recognized early on as a gifted and pioneering minister, leader, and healer, Father Martin was called to serve in increasingly prominent positions throughout the Episcopal church over the course of his life and career.  He was both honored and humbled by each call, and sought guidance from God in response to every request and opportunity.  Upon learning from doctors that he was nearing the end of his life on Earth, Father Martin set about writing his memoirs with the realization that he would not live to see the published version.  This is the story of an extraordinary man who devoted his life to serving the Lord and, in so doing, made lasting positive changes within the church and touched thousands of lives in the process.

If you are interested in ordering a copy, please sign up at the Advent Bookstore.

Play Ball!  The Advent Swingers softball team is getting ready for the summer season of the Church Softball league, and is a vital and ongoing part of parish life at the Advent.  We are now signing up players for the 2016 season.  We eagerly invite back teammates from previous seasons, and are particularly interested in recruiting New Talent!  If you have played softball or are even interested in doing so, please fill out the sheet in the bulletin.

There is a team fee of $45 per player, which goes towards paying the league fee, T-shirts, and team expenses.  Practices begin in May and the season runs from June through September.

Whether you are a returning member or would like to sign up for the first time, please fill out the form below and return it to the “Swingers Softball” basket at the back of the church or near the church office.  You will be contacted in regards to your membership.  You may also send an email to Fr Wood at cubswn@gmail.com or call him at 617-697-8528 to inquire further or to sign up.  Hope to see you out on the diamond!
