This morning is a very important day in the lives of five of our younger members of the Parish:
Thomas Lewis-Bowen, Compton Joyner, Sarah Koury, Annabelle Bagley and Emma Briggs-Kiernan
will be receiving Holy Communion for the first time. This is a beginning in the spiritual lives of these fine young people. We congratulate them and we pray that God will continue to bless them with grown and maturity in their life in Christ. — Father Warren
If you are visiting or new to the Advent, we hope that you will feel welcome and at home. Please fill out a visitor’s/newcomer’s card so that we will have a record of your visit here and can keep in touch.
The flowers at the High Altar are given to the Glory of God and in loving memory of Pin Ou.
All persons baptized in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit are invited to the Altar to receive the Body and Blood of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. If you wish to receive a blessing, come to the Altar and cross your arms over your chest.
Childcare is provided for infants and toddlers during both the 9 am and 11:15 am Masses.

Today, we celebrate the Feast of Pentecost (Whitsunday). The music for the Solemn Procession & Mass at 11:15 will be the Coronation Mass in C Major, K.317, of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
The orchestral mass is made possible by the generous bequest of Frances Nielsen.
The Advent will host the Diocesan Acolyte Festival on Saturday, May 21, at 9:30 am—Calling all acolytes! Servers of all ages and levels of experience are invited to participate in this year’s diocesan acolyte festival. Activities include hands-on training, a shared meal, and a festive Eucharist with acolytes and worship leaders from across the diocese. Questions? Contact Deacon Noyes, firstname.lastname@example.org. Please let us know if you plan to attend so we can plan accordingly.
This coming Saturday, May 21, at 10:30 am, Bishop Gates will confirm or renew the vows of eight Advent parishioners at our sister parish, All Saints Ashmont. Please keep them in your prayers.
More Procession-Tide! This year the Feast of Corpus Christi falls on Thursday, May 26. Here at the Advent it will be celebrated at 6:30 pm with a Solemn Mass, Procession on Mount Vernon Street, and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament, followed by a festive reception. The preacher will be the Rev’d Dr Roger Ferlo, President of the Bexley Seabury Seminary Federation, who was a colleague of Father Warren in New York, and who taught Father Wood at Virginia Seminary. Our bishop, the Rt Rev’d Allan Gates, will preside at the Mass.
Urban IV, 1264, instituting the Feast of Corpus Christi in the Bull Transiturus.
The Faithful will come eagerly to the Churches, and then the Clergy and People will rejoice together. They will raise songs of praise; and the hearts and voices of all, their mouths and lips, shall sound forth the Joy of Salvation. Faith shall sing! Hope shall dance! Charity exult! Devotions praise! Purity sing, and Virtue be celebrated!
Picnic! Picnic! Picnic! On Sunday June 5, we will have a summertime picnic in the Garden following the 9 am and 11:15 am Masses. The Advent will provide hot dogs with all the trimmings and drinks of various kinds. We ask members of the Parish to bring hors d’oeuvres, salads, desserts. Pray for good weather and feel free to dress appropriately.
