9:00 Coffee Hour. Jonnet Holladay and Bette Boughton host the Coffee Hour this morning.  Next week the hosts will be Matt McNeff & David Russo. New coffee hour hosts are always needed; please contact Barbara Boles by phone, 617-501-7572, or email bbolesster@gmail.com if you’re interested or have questions about what is entailed.

11:15 Coffee Hour. Karen Chaney, Julius Krein and Daniel & Marcos German-Domingues host the Coffee Hour this morning.  Next week the hosts will be Larry Civale and Dustin Henderson.  We are in need of more volunteers to do the coffee hour. To view the schedule of available dates and select a date to co-host, please go to http://theadventboston.org/1115-coffee-hour-signup/. If you have any questions, please contact Marcos or Daniel German-Domingues (mrbgd@hotmail.com or DGDomingues@outlook.com), Frederick Ou (frederick.ou@gmail.com), or or Kyle Pilares (kpilares.uk@gmail.com).

Why do we ask you to abstain from taking photographs during the Mass?  We are thankful that God has seen fit for us to worship in such a beautiful structure at the Church of the Advent.  However, use of electronic and photographic equipment during Services is not allowed, except by persons authorized by the Church of the Advent to do so.  This is so not just because it can be disruptive and distracting to those who are here to worship and pray, but also because what is about to happen here cannot be captured on film.  No camera is adequate to the task of capturing the holy moment, so please refrain from taking pictures until after the Mass so you can enter fully into that moment and meet God.  Thank you!

Entr’acte will resume on December 4 when Fr Hanson will continue a four part Entr’acte series on the Trinitarian Controversies which took place during the first four centuries of the Church’s history.

Community Dinner.  As we did last year, guests at the Tuesday Evening Community Dinner will be given Gift Cards to Dunkin’ Donuts as their Christmas gift from the Advent.  This will allow them to go to a warm place and get hot coffee and something to eat during the cold months of winter.  If you wish to make a donation—and we hope you do—send it in marked Donuts.

THIS WEEK

This Thursday is Thanksgiving Day.  There will be a celebration of the Mass with hymns at 10:00 am.

The Parish Office will be closed this Thursday, November 24, and Friday, November 25.  On Friday, the holiday schedule will be observed—Morning Prayer at 8:30 am; Low Mass at 9:00 am; Evening Prayer is cancelled.

COMING UP!

Next Sunday there will be no Entr’acte or Church School; instead, gather in the Library where you can make an Advent wreath for use at home.

Advent Lessons & Carols—Please join us next Sunday, November 27, when at 4:30 pm Christian Lane, director of music at All Saints Church, Brookline, will offer an Organ Prelude Recital, and at 5:00 pm the Advent Choir will sing the popular service of Lessons & Carols for Advent Sunday.  Music featured will include works by Palestrina, Luther, Randall Thompson, Matthew Martin, Handl, Rachmaninoff, Łukaszewski, Clemens non Papa and Gabriel Jackson.  A gala reception will follow the service.

MISSION & OUTREACH CORNER

Coat Drive to benefit Friends of the Children, Boston—through Next Sunday, November 27—One Warm Coat—Got an extra coat—any size, adult or child?  Donate your lightly worn, clean coat to our coat drive, to benefit Friends of the Children, a nonprofit agency serving Boston’s most vulnerable children by breaking the cycle of poverty.  Questions?  See Deacon Daphne.  Thanks to all who have donated coats—your generosity will make a difference this winter (which seems to have arrived rather early!)

Help Make Beacon Hill Beautiful—Sunday, December 4, 2 to 5 pm—Hanging of the Greens—Every December our neighbors on Beacon Hill volunteer to decorate over 1,000 gas lamps that adorn our streets. Would you like to gather a group of Advent folks to hang garlands and bows on the lamps on our street from 2 to 5 pm on Sunday, December 4?  If so, contact frwood@theadventboston.org.   Seek the good of the city where I have sent you . . . . The Stewardship Committee thanks all who have made a pledge so far.  If you have not yet pledged, please do so soon.

If you did not receive a 2017 stewardship packet in the mail, there are Stewardship brochures and pledge cards on the tables at the rear of the Church.  And you can pledge on line by going to the parish website www.theadventboston.org and clicking the “Pledge Online” button..
